As I was driving to church Sunday morning, passing all the corn fields, the Lord gave me a great idea for a fun post…
Specific crops, or dairy products, come to mind when you think of particular states. For instance, when you think of Indiana, you think of… corn. There are some no-brainer ones, and then there are a bunch of states that you have NO IDEA which crop should pop into your mind when you think of those states, [at least I don’t]. The easy ones for me are:
- Florida – oranges
- Georgia – peaches
- Hawaii – coconuts and pineapples
- Idaho – potatoes
- Indiana – corn
- Philadelphia… umm… cream cheese?
- Wisconsin – cheese
As you can see, I don’t know many, without doing any research. What about you? Maybe collectively we can figure out what each state is (or should be) known for, as far as crops or dairy products.
Here’s the list of the 50 states. Chime in with as many as you can think of. Which states are providing us with all the broccoli, asparagus, tomatoes, carrots, peppers, onions, peas, cucumbers, pears, plums, apples, kiwi, and watermelon? I realize a lot of the produce is provided by local farmers within each state. We also import a lot from Mexico.
